Escaping Fed Premieres on Digital Channels | Roulez Magazine | January 3, 2020February 25, 2020
Escaping Fed, a Roulez Media true crime documentary, hit Prime Video as its first digital channel in the United States and UK on January 3, 2020. The film is the story of C. Kimberly Toms’ journey into the criminal justice system after criminal victimization. The crimes included empowered rape, stalking and attempted murder by a supervisory special agent for the U.S. Department of State.
True Crime Subject Matter in Step with the Courts
The film’s digital debut takes place just as the offender heads into trial on five counts of sexual assault. He faces up to 190 years’ imprisonment if found guilty.
Toms noted the release directly to digital. She said, “We realize this film’s potential to quickly reach the greatest number of viewers through online media. We would love to take the months to a year or longer to pursue distribution. But we see timely independent release as the best option for all concerned.”
She continued, “Overall, we see Escaping Fed as more vital in the educational arena and as part of niche screenings. We believe its messaging is important for law enforcement officers and anyone who questions why only three percent of rape cases succeed in reaching a criminal court judgment. The film provides some windows into that extremely difficult process.”
Trial begins February 3, 2020 in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The jury decision marks the end to Toms’ six year plight to reach a courtroom. It also marks the beginning of her efforts to turn the proverbial lemons of her plight into lemonade. Her intent is to engage in women’s program fundraising, public speaking on the subject matter, film screenings and several community-based projects already in early stages.
